4th Antique Appraisal Event Raises Funds for Library Foundation

Joining us for a 4th time in recent years, antique appraisal expert John Leonard, of Leonard Auction in Addison, IL, took on some of our community’s most eclectic curios on Thursday evening, June 15, at the Library. Graciously donating his time, John began the event by briefly reviewing the current antique market: the hottest items are estate jewelry, coins and currency, and modern furniture from the 1950’s.

Some of the items he appraised for attendees were family treasures from attics and sock drawers!

Mary Bertrand (shown here) brought in a tea cup with a hand-painted gold rim from her grandmother’s 6 cup “Architect’s tea set.” Although John advised that sets like this aren’t popular right now in the current antique market, Mary was glad she attended, commenting that “John is so knowledgeable and very passionate about his work.”

Many thanks to everyone who attended this educational and fun event. All funds raised benefit the Library and the Foundation appreciates your support.
