Water, water, everywhere!

All the talk about possible flooding as the snow melts, brings back memories of 1987.
Do you remember when approximately 9 inches of rain fell through the night and morning in August of that year? Flooding was widespread throughout the area.

In this photo from the Roselle History Museum's Digital Archive, two Roselle Fire Department Water Rescue boats cruise the area around Hattendorf Street and Bokelmann Street, where some of the worst flooding occurred. Shops along west Hattendorf Street are visible in the background. (see a larger version here)

See more photos by searching "Flood of 1987" in the Digital Archive.

We can only hope that all the snow will melt gradually and find it's way to ditches, culverts and drains without leaving any damage behind.
