Banned Books Week, 9/24-10/1/2011

What do Harry Potter, Brave New World, To Kill a Mockingbird, Twilight, and The Catcher in the Rye all have in common? All of these books have been banned or challenged in the past two years!

Books usually are challenged with the best intentions—to protect others, frequently children, from difficult ideas and information.

Banned Book Week, an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment, begins today. See what author Judy Blume says about how cenorship effects children.

Show your support. Read a banned book.
