Snapshot: a Day in the Life of Illinois Libraries

Mark your calendar and plan to visit the Library on Wednesday, February 10th. Roselle Public Library will participate in a statewide event to create a snapshot of "the daily activities of Illinois libraries." We will be gathering comments from library users and collecting statistics of library use. The idea is to capture the impact that libraries have on their communities in a typical day.

In the latest state budget, the Illinois General Assembly, your state legislators,
cut general revenue funding for all state library and literacy grants by 50%. At a time when library usage is at its highest ever, Illinois libraries are being
asked to face tomorrow's needs with yesterday's resources. This grant funding
is vital to help libraries continue to provide new programs and services,
purchase new materials, and support the delivery of materials from other
libraries.

The participating libraries want to demonstrate with numbers, photos, and users' stories, the importance of libraries to our communities. Please help Roselle Public Library by completing the simple form that will be available on Wednesday at the Reference Desk, the Youth Services Desk and the Circulation Desk. Staff will be taking random photographs of people using the Library - reading, browsing, computing, checking out items, etc. If you would prefer not to have your photograph taken, please let the staff person know.

The Library appreciates your help in documenting "A Day in the Life of Your Public Library!"
