Roselle Library Remembers September 11

A celebration of democracy, freedom and patriotism...

On Sunday and Monday, September 10-11, Roselle Public Library will commemorate the fifth anniversary of the September 11th tragedy and celebrate democracy, freedom and patriotism with a variety of activities for people of all ages.
Find a complete list of activities and times on the Library's website.

Contribute to the local food pantry by donating non-perishable items to Food for Fines. Participate in "Project Linus" by making and donating a fleece blanket for a hospitalized child. Celebrate your patriotism and enter a drawing to win a flag that was flown over the United States Capitol building.

Sunday afternoon, adults are invited to attend a showing of a film about United Airlines flight 93. The film tells the stirring story of the brave passengers and crew aboard the hijacked airplane on September 11, 2001. (This film is rated PG-13; parents are strongly cautioned that it may be too intense for children.)

Food for Fines contributions and "Project Linus" will continue throughout the day Monday. In addition, children are invited to demonstrate their patriotism with a "Proud to be..." make-it and take-it craft patriotic project in the Youth Services Department.

Monday evening, Roselle's own Tom Malouf returns to the Library to perform music from the 60s, folk tunes, songs of freedom and patriotism, and some of his own compositions in a fun and inspirational family-friendly concert that reminds us all that "We're Better Together!"

The Library is participating in The September Project. Co-founded by The Seattle Public Library and the University of Washington, The September Project, invites people across the country to come together at public places like local libraries to discuss ideas that matter-democracy, freedom, and patriotism.

Join us to remember the past, celebrate the present and look forward to peace in our future.
